Sunderland are considering a move for Tottenham winger Steven Pienaar, and may well make a £5 million bid once the transfer window reopens, according to The Daily Mail.
The South African wideman has spent the second half of the season on loan at former club Everton, impressing in his second stint back at Goodison Park.
With Pienaar seemingly surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane, a transfer scramble may ensue for his signature this summer.
David Moyes is keen to have Pienaar on Merseyside on a permanent basis, but Sunderland are now weighing up a move for him also.
Martin O’Neill is expected to bring in a host of new players this summer, as he looks to make the Stadium of Light squad his own.
Aston Villa are also rumoured to be a potential suitor for Pienaar.
